week 9

The article, The impact of Using Blogs on College Students' Reading Comprehension and Learning Motivation, was extremely enlightening. It described a test that was done weighing the benefits of using blogs as writing tools for college students. Surprisingly the learning outcomes of the students using blogs for writing was not greater than the traditional method.
The new litteracies give great benefits to our world of education today yet to receive its full benefits it must be implemented in the right way. Blogs help students interact with each other, authenticate their writing and publications yet don't automatically increase a students writing abilities and creativity. Students must be taught these skills and be exposed to good reading material to develop into great writers. I also believe that in today's day and age technology is the way to communicate. Children today are raised in the technology age. Not necessarily will writing through blogs raise their learning outcomes, yet that is the avenue of communication and publication in this era!
