Assignment 1
Gaming literacy adds a whole new dimension to literacy. Students are able learn new skills, practice what they were taught and grasp new information. What makes Gaming literacy so unique is that children are stimulated by the games and don't even realize how much they are learning. The text:visual-graphic elements and audio elements of a game all assist students in providing them with the learning content. Students need to be able to read text to understand the information presented in the game. Players must use the visual graphic elements of the game to identify meanings conveyed and differentiate their perspective from the other players. Sound elements can sometimes signal to players to deal with more information.
The attached game, super why saves the day is a great tool to practice literacy skills. Students use phonics, spelling, vocabulary and reading skills to complete this game. The goal of this game is to help Super Why change around the story to make it happy. You must collect letters by clicking on the arrows. Once you collect all the letters to create the word listen as super why read the story and chose the correct word to insert to make a happy ending.
This game includes scenario design. The player is chosen to assist Super Why in saving the day. This though is fabricated scenario because it is only there to build the players motivation. The player is using curriculum related skills to assist Super why.

Students will play super why to develop language skills. Students will develop phonics and writing skills by catching the letters to create words. Students will then be asked to chose the correct word to change the tone of the story. This helps students develop and acquire reading comprehension skills.

players will be assessed if they chose the correct word at the end of the game. Super why will read and explain.
